5 Nigerian Diplomatic Missions with the Best Hospitality

\ Added : 25 February, 2020  by  ngEmbassy

The starting point for any service provided by a Nigerian mission is communication. One would have called or emailed the mission, or booked an appointment online through the respective website, before engaging further. Depending on one's purpose or the nature of inquiry, one may be served without the need to visit the mission. However, in some cases like passport re-issue or scheduled investment meeting, showing up in the mission is inevitable. Subsequently, some waiting within the mission premises may also be unavoidable. We have observed for many months which of the missions have done the best job in keeping the waiters entertained in value added service which we consider to be "worth the wait". Our observations are supported by testimonies of guests to the respective missions below which are not arranged in any particular order.

A. High Commission of Nigeria in Singapore

Headed by Ambassador Ogbole Amedu Ode, this mission is not a vastly spacious one in terms of room size. But size can just be as deceiving as looks. Amb Ode's vision has re-invented this small mission to something every Nigerian stands to be proud of. Ranging from the efficiency of communication services to hospitable comfort enjoyed by those awaiting their appointments. Ambassador Ode's ability to run missions efficiently and connect positively with the local Nigerian Community comes as no surprise as he has served in many missions and handled responsibilities that placed him between the mission and Nigerians in the Diaspora. One of such posts he handled was as Head of Chancery in the Nigerian Mission in Beijing where he was also in charge of Education Affairs. Nigerian Students would occasionally  hold meetings in the embassy under his guidance and administration, to discuss their prospects of studying in China. The students were often treated very well and most came to see him as a mentor and father figure. Ambassador Ode also does remarkably well with host country guests and that's why any mission he leads never lacks in the area of hospitality.

B. Embassy of Nigeria in Tehran, Iran

Some might sense this as an unusual place to be deemed hospitable, especially for the protest scenes in the Nigerian Embassy vicinity over the past few years. But this mission headed by Ambassador Ibrahim Hamza is one of the best Embassies to wait out an appointment.

C. Embassy of Nigeria in Bujumbura, Burundi

This mission is noted for some of the most friendly staff in the world. Within 5 minutes you feel like a member of the family. Thanks to Madam Ambassador.

D. Embassy of Nigeria in Budapest, Hungary

Directly serving the Nigerian community in Hungary, the Nigerian Embassy in Budapest feels like a grassroots confidant and attracts a wealth of trust from the Nigerian people. The murmurs of how ineffective Nigerian Missions are, unfortunately as resonates among Nigerians abroad seems to be minimal , to say the least, in the case of this mission. Beyond that, host country citizens are visibly comfortable with the very friendly service when they visit the mission. This outstanding achievement in public service is, for the most part, credited to Ambassador Mrs. Eniola Olaitan Ajay and her team of friendly diplomats and local staff alike. Madam Ambassador resumed her post by showing great respect and appreciation to the host country and its people,, perhaps without thinking much of the gesture. But the reciprocity was automatic and far reaching, placing the Nigerian Embassy in the list of one of the most Hospitable foreign missions in Hungary.

E. Embassy of Nigeria in Moscow, Russian Federation

Our mission in Moscow has come a long way. From a complain to fix toilets in the 90s to one of the most efficient and hospitable Nigerian Embassies in the world. In fact, in 2019, this mission was awarded the best African Embassy of the Year in the Russian Federation, under the leadership of Prof. Steve D. Ugbah, Nigerian Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Russian Federation.
