NCDC Abuja : Covid-19 Travel Protocol for Diplomats

COVID-19 TRAVEL PROTOCOL FOR DIPLOMATIC PASSPORT HOLDERS

  • Diplomats whose travel originates from 'Non-Restricted' countries and have not visited restricted countries within 14 days of arrival in Nigeria
    1. Passenger are required to complete the Nigeria International Travel Portal and upload a NEGATIVE PCR test result. Diplomats should tick the check-box marked for diplomatic passport holders
    2. Diplomats are required to schedule and pay for a day-7 COVID-19 PCR test in any accredited private laboratories of their choice
    3. Diplomats are required to present a valid COVID-19 PCR test result with a validity period of 72 hours on arrival in Nigeria
    4. Diplomats who fail to provide a valid PCR test result will not have the privilege of isolating in diplomatic residence, but will be taken to quarantine in government approved facility at cost to the mission. The validity of PCR test results will be determined by the officers of Port-Health Services.
    5. Upon arrival, Diplomats will be subjected to routine health screening at the Port- Health Services desk at the Point of Entry: Any diplomat presenting with signs or symptoms suggestive of COVID-19 will be subjected to secondary screening.
    6. Diplomats are required to observe a MANDATORY 7-day self-isolation at their residence and allow access to Federal and State health authorities to monitor their health status
    7. Diplomats whose day-7 test result turns out to be positive
      • are having mild or no symptoms: the diplomat will continue with self- isolation and monitored by the state and Federal authorities until a negative status is established
      • are having moderate to severe symptoms: the diplomat will be managed in accredited hospital facilities
    8. Further genomic sequencing shall be carried out on all positive samples to establish SARS-COV-2 variant and management will be in accordance with national protocol
    9. Upon request, a special waiver for 7-day self-isolation can be granted by the PSC to high-profile diplomats engaging with the offices of the President or the Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
  • Diplomats whose travel originates from or visited "RESTRICTED" countries within 14 days prior to arrival in Nigeria
    1. All requests for entry of diplomats should be made to the Presidential Steering Committee on COVID-19 (PSC) through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
    2. The PSC shall grant waivers only to personnel considered essential by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
    3. All waivers for entry shall be provided by the PSC and transmitted to the relevant embassy through Ministry of Foreign Affairs
    4. All diplomats should be subject lo screening by Port Health Services at the various points of entry
    5. A copy of the PSC waiver must be tendered by all diplomats to Port Health Services at the point of entry. Port Health Services will only recognize the copy of the PSC waiver at the point of entry
    6. All diplomats who visited the 'Restricted' countries in the last 14 days will be required to quarantine in a Government of Nigeria approved facility: exemption is limited to the Ambassador(and Spouse) and the deputy Ambassador
    7. All diplomats shall carry out COVID-19 PCR tests on days 2 and 7 after arrival in Nigeria
    8. Returning Nigerian diplomats or holders of diplomatic passports will comply with all extant Covid-19 entry rules and regulations
