The High Commission of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Ottawa, wishes to notify the general public that as part of the measures put in place by the Government to identify its citizens all over the world, the National Identification Management Commission (NIMC), the agency responsible for the Issuance of the National Identity Numbers and Cards in Nigeria, had engaged the services of consultants to carry out the enrolment of Nigerian nationals in the diaspora for the NIN exercise.
It is noteworthy, that these consultants are duly accredited by NIMC and have since commenced operations in some parts of the world including Canada. The exercise had stalled in recent times on account of the Covid-19 pandemic which has led to intermittent lockdowns in different parts of Canada at various times. The exercise is poised to commence in earnest as soon as the lockdown is lifted.
One of the Consultants that has begun enrolment in Canada is KnowledgeSquare Foresight Nigeria Limited with centres that are currently open in Brampton ON, Montreal QC, Winnipeg MB, Regina SK, and Vancouver BC. Other centres that should be opening soon include, Ottawa ON, Edmonton AB and Newfoundland.
It is pertinent to mention that applicants are required to pay a fee and present the following documents to be eligible for enrolment;
I. Nigerian International Passport (whether valid or expired).
II. Letter of attestation from the Nigeria High Commission, Ottawa for:
• those who do not possess a Nigerian Passport;
• those who have done a change of name that has not reflected on their International Passport
